2012 Summer Camps
Returning for our third summer of Chicago Area Theater Summer Camps, Three Cat Education is proud to announce the expansion of the program into three location. Our 2012 Summer camps “A Summer of Adventure” will explore the actor’s most important tools (Body, Voice and Imagination). Under the instruction of our professional teaching, our campers will be challenged to discover, explore and develop every aspect of theatre – acting, singing, and dance. Campers this summer will be able to strengthen their skills and build friendships that will last a lifetime!

Three Cat Education Theater Summer Camps at Virtuoso Performing Arts
Choose Your Own Fairytale Adventure (Full Day Theater Camp)
Grades: 2nd-5th
Camp Dates/Times: June 11th – 15th (9:00am-3:00pm)
Performance Dates/Times: Showcase will be held on the last day of camp (during camp hours)
Tuition: $275
Location: Virtuoso Performing Arts, Glenview
Description: Have you ever sat in an audience in a theater and wished that you could control what happened to the characters during a performance? In “Choose Your Own Fairytale Adventure”, theater camp actors will work with our professional staff to combine acting and improvisation, resulting in a final showcase at Virtuoso Performing Arts where the audience will vote during the performance to decide what will happen next!

Acting Out – Storybook Villains (Full Day Theater Camp)
Grades: 2nd-5th
Camp Dates/Times: June 18th – 22nd (9:00am-3:00pm)

Location: Virtuoso Performing Arts, Glenview
Description: Do you find yourself working on your maniacal laugh whenever you have a spare minute? Wondering why everyone always wants to be royalty while you can’t wait to transform into a dragon & breathe fire or poison an apple or two? Then “Acting Out – Storybook Villains” is for you! Work with our professional staff to find the fun hidden within all that evil – with a showcase on stage at Virtuoso Performing Arts.

Puppet Masters and Storytelling (Full Day Theater Camp)
Grades: 2nd-5th
Camp Dates/Times: July 9th – 13th (9:00am-3:00pm)
Performance Dates/Times: Showcase will be held on the last day of camp (during camp hours)

Location: Virtuoso Performing Arts, Glenview
Description: Are you fascinated with the puppets? Have you ever wondered how they create and build some of those classic puppet characters. Join Three Cat Education for “Puppet Masters and Storytelling”! Build and bring to life your own puppets at camp! Have fun creating new characters who will greet the public together for an end-of-week showcase a Virtuoso Performing Arts!

Acting Out – Scallywag Stories (Full Day Theater Camp)
Grades: 2nd-5th
Camp Dates/Times: July 23rd – 27th (9:00am-3:00pm)

Description: Are you fascinated with tales of treasure and adventure? Work with our experienced staff to create a pirate’s tale that will take you on a storytelling journey. Their will be a final performance on the last day of camp on stage Virtuoso Performing Arts.

Description: Are you the class clown? Always cracking jokes with your friends? Do you liven up even the dullest of parties? Join us for “Lights, Camera, Improv!” and see if you have what it takes to bring down the house in hysterics! Their will be a final performance on the last day of camp on stage Virtuoso Performing Arts.

SPECIAL TEEN CAMP: Shakespeare – Characters Through the Canon (Full Day Theater Camp)
Grades: Middle school & High school
Camp Dates/Times: July 30th – August 3rd (9:00am-3:00pm)

Location: Virtuoso Performing Arts, Glenview
Description: Ever notice how Shakespeare makes more sense when you hear his words? You can speak the speech! Build a repertoire of Shakespeare pieces as you work with our staff on finding character from the text and building scenes that flow conversationally in Shakespeare’s iambic pentameter. Their will be a final performance on the last day of camp on stage Virtuoso Performing Arts.

Description: Do you love a good song lyric? Do you love writing poetry? Is there one poet that speaks to you? Join Three Cat Education’s special Teen Camp “Poetry, The Beats, and Improv” as we explore the creation and performance of poetry. We will explore the great poets from classics like Emily Dickenson to The Beat poets of the 1950’s to modern day poets like Jay Z. Through improv tools and writing explorations, our students will go on a journey from creation to performance. Their will be a final showcase on The Side Project Theater stage on the last day of camp.
