Three Cat Productions Brings Children’s Theatre Camps Back to Skokie Theatre!

(Skokie, IL) Three Cat Productions is excited to announce the return of Three Cat Education’s summer camps, offered at Skokie Theatre beginning in June 2011. This Summer, classes are offered as two week courses as well as one week and being June 20th, and continue through August 19th. Using the actor’s most important tools (Body, Voice and Imagination) campers will be challenged to discover, explore and develop every aspect of theatre – acting, singing and dance – under the instruction of our professional teaching artists. This will be a unique opportunity that culminates in performances on the Skokie Theatre stage. Campers this summer will be able to strengthen their skills and build friendships that will last a lifetime!

Jacque Lueken, the Executive Director of Three Cat Education, is teaching the majority of the classes available. She is excited to return to the North Shore having recently worked with TYA at Apple Tree and the Eileen Boevers Performing Arts Workshop as a director and teaching artist. Lueken moved to Chicago after receiving her BFA in Acting from Syracuse University to work as the Assistant Coordinator for The School at Steppenwolf and has since worked in theatre education with numerous.

“The Three Cat Education summer camps are a chance to inspire kids in the ways that I was inspired as a kid,” states Lueken. ”The camps provide a chance for these kids to spark an interest in theater and to make life long friendships.”

“Lights, Camera, Broadway!” (June 20th – July 1st, 2011) kicks off our summer camp series! Have the kids come on out and see if they have what it takes to be a Triple Threat on stage! In “Lights, Camera, Broadway!” campers will sing, act and dance their way to a standing ovation Live at the Skokie Theatre! The camp will be on Mondays through Fridays, from 9am to 3pm. There will be two sections, one for children 7 to 10 years old and another for children 11 to 14 years old.

“Acting Out – Comic Capers” (July 11th – July 15th) Ever wondered if you have what it takes to make it on the stage? In “Acting Out – Comic Capers”, campers will explore their favorite character with our professional staff – resulting in a showcase on the last day of camp where they can show off their stuff! The camp will be on Mondays through Fridays, from 9am to 3pm. There will be two sections, one for children 7 to 10 years old and another for children 11 to 14 years old.

“Cabaret Classics” (July 18th through July 22nd) Are you the kind of performer that has all the talent & material in the world without a stage to perform it on? In “Cabaret Classics” our professional staff will work with our campers to help them use all of their talents and skills to put on the Cabaret of a lifetime on the Skokie Theatre Stage! The camp will be on Mondays through Fridays, from 9am to 3pm. There will be two sections, one for children 7 to 10 years old and another for children 11 to 14 years old.

“Acting Out – Storybook Villains” (July 25th through July 29th) Do you find yourself working on your meniacal laugh whenever you have a spare minute? Wondering why everyone always wants to be royalty while you can’t wait to transform into a dragon & breathe fire or poison an apple or two? Then “Acting Out – Storybook Villains” is for you! Work with our professional staff to find the fun hidden within all that evil – with a showcase on stage at The Skokie Theatre the last day of camp. The camp will be on Mondays through Fridays, from 9am to 3pm. There will be two sections, one for children 7 to 10 years old and another for children 11 to 14 years old.

“Off of the Page and On to the Stage!” (August 1st through August 12th) Come join our professional staff as they work with our campers to help them produce their own show from everything to writing to character development to a full out production! Campers will create their own characters, write their own lines and perform their own show live on the Skokie Theatre stage! The camp will be on Mondays through Fridays, from 9am to 3pm. There will be two sections, one for children 7 to 10 years old and another for children 11 to 14 years old.

“Improv and Write and Sketch – Oh, My!” (August 15th through August 19th) Are you the class clown? Always cracking jokes with your friends? Do you liven up even the dullest of parties? Join us for “Improv and Writing and Sketch – Oh, My!” and see if you have what it takes to bring down the house in hysterics! Their will be a final performance on the last day of camp on stage at the Skokie Theatre. The camp will be on Mondays through Fridays, from 9am to 3pm. There will be two sections, one for children 7 to 10 years old and another for children 11 to 14 years old.

“Lights, Camera, Broadway!” and “Off of the Page and On to the Stage!” are both $400 per camper. ”Let Me Entertain You!” and “Broadway Rocks” are both $195 per camper.
